ANTIVIRUS PROTECTION
Although every computer comes pre-loaded with some kind of antivirus software, this is usually not enough to protect against viruses that are constantly evolving. Antivirus software is a data protection utility that is installed on a computer system to protect against viruses, spyware, malware, rootkits, Trojan horses, spam and other online threats. If your computer is not properly protected, a variety of malware can cause your computer to run slower, delete or corrupt files, format external storage drives, crash your computer’s system and cause downtime.

DATA BACKUP
The purpose of a backup is to create a copy of your data that can be restored in the event of a primary data failure. Primary data failures can be caused by hardware or software failure, data corruption or a man-made event such as a malicious attack (virus or malware) or accidental deletion of data. Backups allow data to be restored at an earlier time, helping the company recover from an unplanned event.
Storing a copy of the data on a separate medium is essential to protect against loss or corruption of the primary data. This additional media can be as simple as an external drive or USB stick, or something more substantial such as a cloud storage container or tape drive. The backup media can be in the same location as the primary data or in a remote location. The latter is recommended.
For best results, backups shall be created regularly and on a regular basis to minimise the amount of data lost during backups. The more time elapses between backups, the greater the chance of data loss when restoring from a backup. Maintaining multiple copies of data provides insurance and the flexibility to restore to a time that is not affected by data corruption or malicious attacks.
